Hey, I’m Arne!
I’m 18, from Australia,
and I’ve just finished high school.
If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m a designer at times, an artist at heart, and a wanderer always. I follow gut feelings, chase stories, and dive into places I don’t fully understand—yet.
With my gap year ahead of me, I’m shifting gears, working on a project I’m excited to share with you.
Very soon, I’ll be setting off on a 5-month journey through Africa. It’s a bicycle charity ride, covering over 7,000 km across 7 countries, all to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention, supporting Lifeline so people can continue to access help in their lowest moments, as well as smaller grassroots groups reached through Lifeline’s wider network, like the local run and swim clubs I believe in.
I’ll be riding for approximately 5.5 months from the Mediterranean Sea to the African tropics, documenting it so you can follow along.
Mental health is something that matters deeply to me, both because of friends who have been affected and my understanding that has deepened from my own experience. This ride is my way of putting that belief into action, and I’m proud to be an advocate for such an important cause.
This trip will test every part of me. I’ll be cycling through places I’ve never dreamed of, meeting people, building stories, pushing my limits, and getting my perspectives shaken up in ways I probably can’t imagine yet.
Right now, I’m in the thick of preparing for it — physically, mentally, emotionally. If you choose to support me or this project, honestly, it means the world. Your support not only helps me make it through this journey with a little more comfort and safety, but it also gives me the chance to give more as I pass through some of the poorer regions. While raising money and awareness for mental health is at the core of this mission, I won’t be blind to the other challenges people face, and I want to help where I can.
If you’re reading this, I haven’t started pedalling yet, but the countdown’s on. Once I’m on the road, there’ll be updates, videos, stories — the good, the hard, and the moments that make it all worth it. I’ll be documenting it all as best I can. Follow my Instagram: @Arnejosph
